Tourism

Raleigh is the capital city of North Carolina and the second largest city in the state, behind Charlotte. Raleigh is home to 10 traditional universities and colleges and numerous satellite campuses and for-profit institutions of higher education. As one of the three "corners" of the Research Triangle Region, Raleigh's academic research network is enhanced by the presence of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and by Duke University and North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. All of these NC universities are within a 45-minute commute of each other and from the Research Triangle Park, one of the nation's largest and most prestigious R&D business parks.
